November 28: Poppins

1. Generosity: the guy on the subway shared his newspaper.
2. Patience: the girl at the salon let me have my Mary Poppins of Pockets moment as I took forever to empty out my coat.
3. Highlight: the girl doing my hair gave me a positively brilliant idea. She is a creative, gorgeous super-babe of the universe.

‘He is a statue wrapped in a painting in a frame made of muscles.’

November 1: Offers

1. Spanish teacher offered my friend and me good tutoring rates.
2. Russian colleague offered me pretty European cigarette boxes.
3. Young couple on the subway offered me Truck Mart magazine.

September 2: Looking

1. A woman on the subway moved from her seat so my nephew Matthew and I could look out of the last subway car window into the tunnel.

2. Even though no children are allowed, a host at a downtown establishment let me bring Matthew in, so we could look out at the city from the 51st floor terrace.

3. A woman at a multiplex theatre let Matthew and me onto the premises, so we could go have a long look at the massive fish tank (where we found two Nemos).

July 22: Catching Kisses

1. Matthew blew me kisses, which I caught like volleyballs. Then we switched and he caught my kisses (‘Woah! That's a big one!’). Together, we sent our beachball-sized kisses down an imaginary bowling lane, knocking over all 10 pins.

2. Matthew filled my imaginary teacup with all things savoury: chocolate, popcorn, a teddy bear, magic markers, a little boy, a shoe (‘What kind?’ ‘A Birkenstock’) and yucky mud. Mmm!

3. Little Lukas offered me handfuls of sand, followed by a playground wood chip straight from his mouth. Nothing imaginary about it. (Except, perhaps, in all he cannot yet verbalize. What is this kid thinking?!)

‘Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!’ - Theodor Geisel

July 19: Avatar

1. Lovely Donna fowarded me an important email.
2. Thanks to Gretta, I created my Simpsons avatar.
3. Tommy was watching a Lance Armstrong documentary. Which reminded him of the Lance audiobook I once gave him. He texted. I called. He picked me up from work. We went for drinks. And then we discovered that we both attended the same summer day camp in 1988.

May 9: La-La-La

I am waiting at a bus stop. My Wendy's Frosty sends me into raptures... I chuckle, imagining my friend Wendy wearing her ‘Wendy's Hot and Juicy’ button in highschool. I spot a dude in a parked white car unleashing his harness of a seatbelt (go, Fast and Furious) and suspiciously eye him as he proceeds to stroll, self-consciously, towards the parked Jeep. I wait for him to open the passenger door and perform the illicit transaction that is happening only in my mind. He does no such thing and returns to his harness. I snap back to reality – the bus is pulling out. It has come and gone, just like my Frosty.

Sometime prior to my long walk:

3. My dear colleague chose a $1 (not $1.25) snack at the vending machine so I could have her last quarter for my own $1 snack.
2. My dear brother served me pizza and music at his place.
1. My dear appetite grew strong thanks to my Jay-Z happy dance.

May 6: Izzy and Frames and Pictures

1. I love art and I have found the best shop in Toronto for framing. Frames and Pictures. I haven't seen a wider selection anywhere.
2. I am dizzy for Izzy, who took time out of her day to help me bring back my newly, gorgeously (and affordably) framed pieces.
3. I clean when I am angry; I clean even better when I am angrier. So a lot of good came out of my anger late in the day.

May 2: Neighbours

1. On campus, I bumped into some old faces, met some new ones and received an invite to an alumni party.
2. My long-awaited print job - hallelujah! - had a nice colour and finish. My scanning was largely successful.
3. I shared a cab with a woman going in my direction. Then a neighour let me in at 2am (I was keyless again).

So many good things happened, I forgot that the soles of my feet were burning in my cheap heels, that the cab driver was irate with us or that I seem to be getting early-onset alzheimer's, always losing my keys and passcards.

April 27: Democracy

Today's good things were wrapped up in a big, creative bundle, infused with ideas and punctuated with beautiful mystery men. I'd like to share:

1. Democracy: get it, watch it and make it!
2. Check out Bravo! Fact and Shorts in Motion here or here.
3. Sample and participate: Current TV.

April 14: Eejit

It was a colourful day full of colourful language.

Each of the three utterances below gave me a belly full of laughter at some point today (though none as much as the story of my nephew, who took off his diaper on his parents' bed and smeared everything with - even offering to share - his own soft, warm chocolate brownie dough).

1. Confliction
2. Love-pants
3. Eejit

April 9: The Book

1. In 1982, I met Greg in Miss Bleskie's class; in 2007, I met him again on Facebook.
2. In 1989, Stevie and I sat beside each other on a school bus from Toronto to Quebec City; in 2007, we sat beside each other on Facebook.
3. In 1998, Julie and I shared a life drawing class; in 2007, we shared profiles on Facebook.

The Blog is Back!

March 12 - TORONTO, Canada

I'm not sure how exactly to catch up, but expect I'll post in chronological order. My paperback blog is still in use. It's easy to find the good (or the bad) on holiday; the trick will be to give the three best things proper consideration. Bear with me as I work through it.

This was a very successful trip. I can't wait to share it with you!

Birthday Bonus: 4wks

Happy Birthday, 3 for 365! One month already. Thanks for sharing with me as I raise my young blog. I look forward to your continued feedback. 334 to go.

January 20: Pizza

People had attitude. I ran late. I saw a movie I didn't like. But it all paled by comparison to this Saturday's many, many charms!

1. I took notice of myself smiling at someone today. No reason.
2. Irish pub: jeans, sweatshirts, friends, love. It bears repeating how totally radical and splendiferous this surprise wedding was.
3. Coming home to an empty fridge after a few drinks sucks. My lovely roommate shared her pizza slice with me at 4am.

Izzy, thanks for reading my blog! J’apprécie ton soutien.

January 11: Močiutė

Today's lesson: not to post until bedtime. I was writing earlier this evening, but it was too soon to tell. There was a negative edge when in fact good things were yet to come.

1. I celebrated my grandmother's 85th birthday with her. What a treat!
2. I got three belated Christmas cards. Ačiū labai! Köszönöm szépen!
3. Jump Math generously shared its wine and cheese after tonight's meeting, so my roommate and I savoured a much-needed snack. Check out the good work at http://jumpmath.org.
