Each chapter has its own distinct feel, e.g., ‘Goons who shoot folks knock down doors, storm control rooms. Bronx cops do crowd control. Corps of shock-troops cordon off two blocks of shops to look for kooks who concoct knock-off bombs.’ Brilliant.
